I am a very active female that competes in long distance running races and cycling. As a mom and a full time employee, I never found the time or interest to focus on different workouts other than what I got through running, cycling, or from books and articles.


I originally had 8 sessions left from a 12 session package that I had back in 2005 and did not complete due to pregnancy. Reluctant about the benefits, I decided to complete what I
had already paid for and started working with Angela. She changed my impression of personal trainers completely. She thinks outside the box!


I am always impressed with her approaches, the research she does to focus on your goals, and her determination to make you a better athlete. I have renewed twice since.
She goes beyond the traditional gym equipment and weight lifting exercises to find alternative ways to develop new neuromuscular paths that contribute to a strong, stable and more efficient body that can deliver performance without the risk of injury.


I personally experience now a much stronger core and upper body that has helped substantially reduce my chronic hip injuries. Amongst other results, I was the overall female winner of the local 2008 Umstead Marathon and I had a personal best of 3:09h in 85F weather at the Chicago Marathon last October. “I was terrified.  What was I thinking - 50 years old and 100 pounds overweight.  I hadn't done anything athletic (except walk to the kitchen) in 30 years.   I debated taking the elevator to the second floor of the gym to meet Gail Spryer so I wouldn't be out of breath after the flight of stairs.  Gail met me, accepted me where I was, and helped me start to change my life.

That was 2 years ago, and now, here I was with that same terrified feeling, intensified by disappointment.   Was I dreaming? Unfortunately I was not.  After my initial success, I had thought I could do it on my own.  I had thought I had it all figured out.  But it was too easy to go back to old habits.  I was even heavier and more out of shape.   I was starting over, again. 

Fast forward 6 months to today.  Together, Gail and I have changed my life – and it is not just temporary this time.  I've lost 30 pounds and more than 9 inches. I am now consistently losing 1-2 pounds per week.  My most surprising change has been in the way I think about food and exercise, and gyms.

Gail is not just a trainer, she is my coach.  Beyond our work together each week, she really cares about the whole me.  She emails to check on me if she knows I'm having a tough week.  She holds me accountable for my progress.  She can look at me and tell when I need to be encouraged or challenged.   She spends her own time studying new exercises to help me meet my goals.  She finds new strengths in me that I didn't know were there.

I am a work in progress, but I know that this time I'll make it; and Gail will be right there with me in a few months when I reach my next goal.  I plan to run my first 5K.  Gail has helped me be a better me.  I'm not terrified any more".

“I made a New Year's resolution to get into shape and lose weight.  Therefore, I joined Impact and after 6 months I gained 3 pounds and only made it to the gym once.  Obviously, my workout plan wasn't working, so I decided to go radical and get a personal trainer.    I have been working with Crystal Stokes for seven weeks and what a difference it has made.   I have lost 14 lbs of fat, gained 2 lbs of muscle, and dropped 11 inches from combined areas of waist, hips, thigh, and chest.   Crystal is teaching me about how nutrition and exercise affect my metabolism.   Even though my journey from obesity has just started, I know now that I am on the right path with the perfect guide”.

I have a personal goal to run a 5K at the end of the year.  Geoff Chistman has not only been training me to be fit, but also takes the time and effort to run with me so I’ll be confident since this is my weakness.  As many mothers, I have gained the excess weight by having four children back to back and I have no prior experience in personal fitness.  I really lean on Geoff to guide me though this whole new experience of having to get fit and healthy.  He is amazing.  At first, I never looked forward to going to the gym.  Now the gym is a part of my weekly schedule.  If it wasn’t for having a personal trainer that has very positive, knowledgeable and humorous outlook on life, health, and most importantly fitness, I would not be where I am today.  Instead, I would still look like a mother who looks like she is pregnant, tired, and hoping for the weight to just disappear!  Thanks Geoff for keeping me on a fitness track with a smile.

Thanks for making getting in shape easy.  I have seen better, faster results from my work outs with Lou D’ Ambrosio than with other trainer I have worked with in the past.  As a runner I appreciate your attention to injury prevention, stretching, and focus on my core muscles.  I don’t think I’d be as confident about running the Chicago Marathon had I not been working out with you.
