Competitive Jump Rope Team – Tri-Force

Team Tryouts:  Impact TriForce is a competitive Jump Rope team run by Shay Perez and Tyler Perez.  They will be holding a workshop for all kids interested in trying out and a parent informational meeting on Wednesday August 6th from 6:00-8:00.  Tryouts will be on Sunday, August 10th from 3:00-5:00.  For more information on tryouts, please contact Shay Perez at sbpez@aol.com.

Coach Sh’ay has been coaching jump rope for eight years, is a certified jump rope instructor, judge, and the USA Jump Rope representative for North Carolina.  Coach Tyler has jumped for 12 years and is currently a member of the US All Star Jump Rope Team and Team USA that competed at the Worlds Championship this past summer in Toronto Canada.  Along with coaching, Tyler’s recent accomplishments include a Bronze Medal in the Sr. Male Masters Division of the Maple Leaf International Competition and two Silvers and a Bronze Medal in the Senior Male Team Events in the World Championships.  Tyler also holds two AAU US Records for 1 Minute Speed and 1 Minute Triple Unders and appeared in the movie “Jump In!” which can be seen on the Disney Channel.

The sport of jump rope offers the ability to compete both as an individual and as a team.  Individually, male and female athletes compete separately in their respective age groups.  Teams of 2, 3 and 4 athletes are formed to compete as Partner and Double Dutch teams and the entire team competes in a synchronized group event called Team Show.

The team practices three times a week, for a total of 6 hours each week.  The 2006/07 team began practice in September ‘06 and will go through July ‘07 for those athletes that qualify to compete at a National level competition.  During our second year as a team, we sent athletes to USA Jump Rope Nationals, AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Junior Olympics and FISAC World Championships.  I am very proud to announce that every member of the 05/06 team qualified to compete at a National Level and that our Senior Team Show earned a Bronze Medal at Jr. Olympics.

Placement on Tri-Force is based on a skill assessment and requires a coach’s recommendation.

Please contact coach Sh’ay Perez at 467-2281 ext 138 if you have any questions concerning jump rope at Impact, or if you are interested in arranging a skill assessment for your child.
